3.5 stars! I thought this book was a good follow up to the Santorium. Spooky read that gave me the scaries reading it at night. I think that Will’s character annoys me quite a bit, even as much as he did in the first book. I think I’d like the story more if Elin was single. But I love the Steed/Elin combo. Great plot, spooky scaries, and a new character. I enjoyed it and I’ll be looking forward to Pearse’s next novel.

2023 Listen #48

I am always on the hunt for new series to listen to on my commute. "Whodunits" that distract me from the traffic are my go-to for in the car. If you liked The Sanatorium, I think you will probably like this one as well as they are quite similar... maybe a little too similar.

I loved The Sanatorium, but I loved The Retreat more.

For me, this one was less of a slow burn thriller with more twists and turns. I love the remote locations and the mystery that surrounds this beautiful, haunted place.

I enjoyed the growth and the struggle that Elin had & im looking forward to the next one!
