Excellent biography of five women artists that were central to Abstract Expressionism in New York City, but more than that it looks at a huge array of supporting characters, from Jackson Pollock to Frank O'Hara and many others. It is a compelling narrative of an era, examining  in detail its art and society.

Super interesting biography of the great women pioneer abstract artist. A bit like a text book so difficult to get through but a great book!
