Well if this wasn't the cutest romance involving avocados, then I don't know what is.

The story follows two main characters, Sal and Dacre, with alternating points of view between each character. Sal is such a lovable, type-A YA protagonist, and all she really cares about is her family and their avocado farm. Dacre is such a sweetheart, and is such a great older brother to his two younger siblings, and he also happens to have Type 1 diabetes. The story is set in Mexico, and has a lot of diverse representation which is rare to see in a lot of YA romances.

The story that develops is such a fun road-trip friends-to-lovers romance, and has so many fun bits. Sloths! Jungles! Mopeds! Avocados! A circus!

Truly, this story is so sweet and such a fun journey. I highly recommend!

I was provided a eArc of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was cute but predictable and a little too angsty for me.

Too many Big Important Issues smooshed in with not enough believably, but I liked that the Mexican jungle made a significant cameo.

Avocado Bliss is a book that I felt a little complex, but realistic characters and situations. Sal is an avocado farm girl and Dacre is a random guy who goes to buy avocadoes. Sal and Dacre bond and their love develops. Dacre’s character was trying hard to be something more than a diabetic throughout the book. The story was slow moving for my liking, but I managed to finish the book. The ending was not upto expectation, the ending was rushed. A lot was going on in this book, i feel its too complex to be YA novel.
I received a reader’s copy through NetGalley. Thank you authors and Evernight Teen. The review is based only on my opinion of the story.

Such a unique YA read I don’t think I’ve ever read before and I absolutely loved it, teenage romance and avocado farming you wouldn’t put them together or think it would work, but it really does. Well researched and written, the characters are well developed, the diabetes is well represented ( having it in the family it rings so true) . It’s a great emotional rollercoaster of a book, it teaches so many things like self respect , love and family. It’s a great friends to lovers romance and a thoroughly entertaining read. Highly recommended

Avocado Bliss was a fun, warm and fast-paced book with complex and realistic characters. Dacre doesn't like having diabetes, which I fully understand, but I wish his inner monologue wasn't that negative. Nevertheless, the authors managed to write tension in the book and it was overall a nice read.

DIABETES.

I appreciate (DIABETES) what the authors were (DIABETES) attempting here but (DIABETES) the overall integration of Dacre's diabetes felt forced (DIABETES) totally unnatural, and (DIABETES) heavy handed. Did I mention diabetes? Unfortunately this made the book, like this review, difficult to read. Otherwise this was a charming teen romance set in Mexico. It wasn't overly sweet or rife with stereotypes or cliches, and as such it felt very authentic and mostly realistic, although there were a few parts that made the 90s kid in me laugh/cringe from nostalgia (looking at you quicksand). Honestly growing up in the 90s had me CONVINCED that quicksand would be a much more prevalent part of day to day life. But I digress.

There were parts of this book that I really liked, particularly the carnival scene. I also really enjoyed Sal, because she was well rounded in a way that teen girls are rarely written - passionate, knowledgeable, intelligent, driven, hard working etc. as well as a bit quirky. Dacre was more of a typical teenage boy, though I really appreciatedthe relationships he shared with his brothers. I think a lot of teens will enjoy this quick little read but for me it was just slightly underdeveloped and overly DIABETES-ish.

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review, all opinions are my own

You know that feeling, when you love the story so much, that you are a loss of word when it comes to talking about it? That is Avocado Bliss.

Dacre and his bother came back from states, to their mother's place. She moved again and not only that, she has a boyfriend, who is young enough to be her son. And Dacre is not all that happy about it. :) He is desperate for a distraction, so when a cute girl offers him a summer job, he jumps at the chance.

But there is something that is always on his mind, he has type 1 diabetes. It’s a disease that he can never escape, that is always on the back of his mind. He is tired of people treating him differently, so he decided not to tell anyone about it. That makes frequent bathroom visits a bit strange with no explanation. :)

Sal lived for her Avocados. She and her father have an Avocado farm and it’s her entire life. In desperate need of help, she hires a guy on sight. They have a big delivery in a few days, and she needs all the help she can get.

I loved reading it, getting lost in the story. It made me laugh and cry and feel for the characters so much.

The story is light and fun on one side, with slowly growing romance, fun banter between Dacre and Sal, Avocado farming and bandanas.

And very deep on the other side, depicting living with chronic illness, that never goes away, difficult family dynamic, moving places and getting lost in the jungle.

It one of those books you just have to read!

I loved this book!!! It drew so many feelings out of me!!! I absolutely loved BOTH main characters, not to mention some of the side characters. Dacre and Sal both overcame feelings of insecurity, feelings of worry and sadness in their family, and dangers they went through. But through it all they became friends, and then more than friends. It was moving and I admit I got teary eyed more than once.

Robinson & Delgadillo write so well together. Everything flows beautifully and they write such great characters. Bacon Pie was their first book, which I really loved. Now Avocado Bliss was AMAZING!! I think they both love food!!! Lol
