This was my favourite book so far in the series.

This book was way less busy than the other and it really shows. It really focused on MC and her two LI, more interaction and character and relationship growth.

So as warned, lol, this was the book where the sex starts. I was expecting it, so maybe it didn't surprise me as much as some people. I think it was handled well, and I don't think it completely took over the tone of the book. My one complaint--now that sex has entered into it, Hamilton allowed it three different times to be used as a weapon--not cool! One of the things that I liked so much about the earlier books was that Anita's gender didn't really get in the way of her being the big bad Vampire Hunter. She made pains to always mention that it was her size, not her gender, that was really her biggest challenge. Now, all of the sudden, in three different places in this book, rape rears its ugly head and makes Anita's gender the focus. I hope that stops.

A solid read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it-- just a little more scattered of a focus than the previous ones. Dealing with more of the major series arc than an individual mystery/case.

Very crude of me but I won't have minded if Rich died since he's so amn damn draining, but it'll make me wonder what will happen to his pack members that I fell in love with.

So far this is better than the other book I'm reading at the same time as the Anita Blake series. When it comes to series like this it's either hit or miss with me. It's like reading a "show" in your head with the same formula. Only I've been spoiled just enough to keep me coming to see how it got to that point and if it will get better.

I tried so hard to read this but gave up after 75% done. I will be deleting it off my kindle and won't read any more in the series.
