There are very few things I love more than backwoods horror laced with generational trauma and effed-up family values.

BROTHER was my first glimpse into Ania Ahlborn’s brain, and already I’m wanting to dive deeper. She has this way of making you feel, at least briefly, for every single character introduced - even the absolute most depraved and sadistic, the likes of which this book is teeming with.

Oh, sweet Michael. My heart hurt for him from the very first to the final pages.

The twist? Incredible.

The ending? Heart wrenching.

Absolutely loved this read from the moment I picked it up.

Didn’t realize cannibalism was a main theme and did not enjoy!

I use GoodReads a lot to track the books I’m reading, but I rarely actually write reviews. But wow, this book was so truly horrible that I felt the need to tell others. Not only was the book disturbingly graphic, but it also left me not really caring about any of the characters. It wasn’t engaging at all, I can’t really explain to you why I even bothered to take the time to finish this book. The ending was the worst, it ended and I was like “seriously, that’s it?”. I am so glad I read this book through Kindle Unlimited and didn’t waste an actual cent that was spent directly towards this book.

I’ve read other disturbing books that I’ve enjoyed, I didn’t not like this one because of the horror - I didn’t like it because it was boring, the characters sucked, and it had a dumb ending.
