Plum Lovin'
Author: Janet Evanovich
Characters: 3 out of 5
Plot: 2 out of 5
Overall: 2 out of 5

Description: (Author Website) Mysterious men have a way of showing up in Stephanie Plum's apartment. When the shadowy Diesel appears, he has a task for Stephanie-and he's not taking no for an answer. Annie Hart is a "relationship expert" who is wanted for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Stephanie needs to find her, fast. Diesel knows where she is. So they make a deal: he'll help her get Annie if Stephanie plays matchmaker to several of Annie's most difficult clients. But someone wants to find Annie even more than Diesel and Stephanie. Someone with a nasty temper. And someone with "unmentionable" skills.

Does Diesel know more than he's saying about Annie Hart? Does Diesel have secrets he's keeping about Stephanie and the two men in her life-Ranger and Morelli? With Stephanie Plum in over her head, things are sure to get a little dicey and a little explosive, Jersey style!

From My Point of View: This was my least favorite Stephanie Plum book yet. I still don't know how I feel about Diesel. I was pretty optimistic in the first novella, but now I'm not so sure. I like him as a character, but I don't like the circumstances that bring him around or the storylines that seem to come with him. This particular storyline I thought was a joke. It was not standard Evanovich material by any means. The "bad guy" gave people hives for pete's sake! What kind of ability is that?! I was unimpressed.

And, honestly, I don't think Stephanie needs any more men in her life, so I'm not too fond of Diesel from this perspective.

All in all, I didn't care for it. If you like the numbered novels, this is likely to be a disappointment.

3.5 starts rounded up to 4

Stephanie Plum will never not be one of my very favorite characters and there won’t ever be a Stephanie Plum novel I won’t read but these between the numbers books are not my favorite. I prefer the actual books with Ranger and Morelli in them. Plus the Undesirables and magic is a bit of a stretch for me and even for this series.

Seriously though I love this series.

Always good for a laugh, but I don’t remember this Disiel character from earlier Books. Damn the girl gets all the hotness.

This was my first between the numbers book I read and I'm a bit disappointed. There wasn't much suspense, intrigue or even much Lulu. How can she be Stephanie's sidekick if we don't see her until the end of the book?

I'm glad this wasn't my introduction to Stephanie Plum, if it had been I don't think I would of pick up any of the other books. I hope the other Between the Number books are better.

Evanovich can churn out hilarious novels with barely realistic situations and wonderfully vivid characters. That's one of the reasons why I got hooked on her Stephanie Plum series.^^^^But the Plum series is getting a bit tired now, there's only so many times Stephanie can get kidnapped, or be in danger of being killed/kidnapped, with Morelli (her cop.. err.. bf?) and Ranger (bounty hunter mentor with sexual interests) saving her ass until it just gets really... boring, sorry to say. Oh and the angst of loving them both - which one should she choose? Ugh, I hate love-triangles.^^^^A couple of the spin-off / stand-alone books on Stephanie were okay, though this sadly wasn't up to her usual funny standards or had vivid characters - both fell rather flat, even though most of them were from the series. While it was amusing in certain parts, the overall meh-ness kinda dragged it down.^^^^Though as a stand alone book, if I hadn't read the series, it would be rated a bit higher... 6.5? 7? ^^

I enjoyed this book very much as an audio book I listened to while driving around town and cooking. Of course, this would have made an especially good Valentine's weekend book.
