Did I read the same book as everyone ?? Because I don’t understand the hype this book is getting ??

This was a tough decision to make because I really wanted to push through and finish it but I finally had to put this book down. I really tried to push through—I had the ebook and even spent my precious monthly Audible credit on the audiobook (which I now regret). But I just couldn’t do it anymore.

The main character was unbearable—whiny, entitled, and frustratingly reckless. She constantly made dumb decisions, and her judgmental attitude made it impossible to connect with her. Every chapter left me more irritated, and trying to get through her inner monologue just made my blood boil.

I honestly don’t get the hype. This was one of the most basic and disappointing books I’ve ever tried to read. By the time I hit 57%, I was completely over it.

I can’t recommend this book to anyone. There are so many better fantasy romance books out there—don’t fall for the hype on this one!

Don’t do it guys 🥴🙈

Wow! Loved this book - what a great start to a series. The pacing was great and there were no slow parts; lots of world building but that is expected for the first book of a high fantasy series.

I am hooked and look forward to the remainder of the series.

This book has everything that a lot of us look for in our romantic fantasies!
An interesting plot (not romance), a strong female main character, fighting, romance, magic, a dark and mysterious character, and all the emotions.

Our mc frustrated me at points with her actions but at the end she starts to pull together. I think it’s definitely a series where we will see the mc mature and grow as the books go on.
I would be interested in seeing more side characters and getting to know a slightly bigger cast so I hope we see that in the next ones.
The magic seems very cool and beautiful. I’m excited to see more of it in the series.
The first 50% was a bit slower but still interesting and kept me wanting to find out where it goes. But the last half / 3rd was fantastic and had a strong grip on me! It definitely ends with a cliffhanger and leaves you wanting to start the 2nd one soon.

It reads very easy and fun like a YA but I’m not sure if it’s intended to be one. I feel because of the few sexual references (not spice) and the graphic description of some violent moments, that it’s good for 15yr+ but I think the other books might have more adult content.

Overall I really enjoyed this book! I’m giving it 4.25 stars
