Read in Goodreads already on 10/10/10 but no way to register it twice (and of course I've read it many times before these two). My go to comfort read.

Edited to add that now that I can log a book multiple times in Goodreads, it’s become clear that I will just spontaneously read this book roughly every two years until I die.

My fault for expecting to see some of the scenes from the movie…

This was the classic that made me realize that I like classics.

One of my all-time favorite books! I love Jane Austen, but there is a reason that this is her best-loved book. The characters are interesting, the plot is intriguing, and if you read carefully, the humor is astounding!

“it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”

ah, the original enemies to lovers. 5 freakin stars bruh. i want a mr darcy.

i had seen both the 1995 and 2005 adaptations of this book before reading it, so i already knew how the story would go, but what an honor it was to read the source material. both adaptations are works of art, and this book is no different. as it was published in england 1813, the language used, of course, is much different than how we speak today, so i used an audiobook to go along with my physical book, which helped a lot with my understanding.

now that i’ve read jane austen’s work, my appreciation for how good and (most of the time) accurate the adaptations are has skyrocketed. i even rewatched the 2005 movie with my sister in honor of the book. but i suppose i should actually talk about the book’s contents now.

without spoilers, this book is basically just 5 sisters running around trying to be married, plus a lot of drama. it’s so much better than it sounds, i promise LOL. i’m not normally one for regency romances (shocking i know), but pride and prejudice is just simply irresistible. the development of the main couple(s) is masterful. quite possibly perfect. and the fact that they don’t even kiss and yet their chemistry and scenes together are fantastic? writers of today could learn a thing or two from miss austen.

overall a wonderful experience that i would highly recommend to any romance enjoyers. a can definitely see why it’s such a classic.
