Throughout this volume, there seemed to be a theme of trying to understand other people and not being blinded by assumptions based on one’s appearance, and I think it was done really well! I LOVED Yukiko’s and Hachiko’s conversation and I’m glad they were able to understand each other and become friends. I also really loved seeing Morio’s past, exactly how he got his scar, how he was treated because he was poor, and delving further into his relationship with his “rival” Shishio. It was nice to see that Shishio did immediately feel guilty for giving Morio his scar and tried in his own way to make it up to him. And while this is no excuse for what he did to Morio, I can feel sympathy for what Shishio was going through at the time and how he felt his parents and society as a whole wouldn’t understand him due to his sexuality. Overall, it was another great volume with good conversations and I can’t wait to read the next one!
