Although I'm not a fan of romance, I am a fan of paranormal and Of Fear and Faith marks everything I look for in a paranormal adventure! I was pulled in right from the beginning with the promises of ancient prophecies and various deities that do not disappoint! Although the story may start of a bit slow, it's worth it to stick around. When it picked up, I was on the edge of my seat until the very last page, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

N. D. Jones never misses, all her books are unique, amazing and they'll definitely make you cry. Of Fear and Faith is no exception.

I love this book. I love Sanura and how caring she is, and I love Assefa and how protective he is. I love Makena and her subtle-not-so-subtle matchmaking, I love Mike and his tiny attitude problem.

Everyone is so cool. Except Richard. We don't like Richard in this house, he's not welcome here.

AND THE MYTHOLOGY! *chef's kiss* Masterfully done.

And then we have the romance which is painfully sweet. Sanura and Assefa are so cute together, it's almost unfair.

I've been looking forward to reading this for more than a year and I'm happy it met my expectations and that I can continue with the series ASAP.

I won a copy through a giveaway.

Initial Thoughts: Of Fear and Faith was pretty good. Felt longer than usual though I don't know why.

After getting through the first 50 or so pages, when I read it I was IN. When I set it down was the problem. I didn't have a burning desire to pick it back up. I didn't forget the characters or plot, it just...was...there.

The Good:
+ Liked the world building. Very different, well-thought out. African mythology inspired.
+ Liked how the soul mate nonsense deals with real life concerns and isn't discriminatory black and white like most
+ Sets up the series well, concluding the current mystery and leaving more to follow
+ Sanura dealing with the traumatized child was sweet and heartbreaking aka perfect
+ Loved the cast including the grumpy detective and meddling mother.
+ Adding the villain POV was brilliant, helped the pacing, suspense, and plot.
= Steamy perfection almost sex scenes and insta-lust

The Not-So-Good:
- Took while to get into. Assefa is closed off and mysterious, but found it dull until finally a hook appeared. Once we got to revealing who he is, interacting with Sanura and her fam I was here for it.
= Insta-love (obvious going in due to the blurb)
- Lots of repetition, both phrases, descriptions, ideas,
- Cover isn't accurate to how the characters were described (superficial)

Update 1: WOOT! Finished it for #ReadThemAllThon just in time at work today.

LOVED;
*The characters although instantly attracted to one another took some time to get to know one another
*The Egypian mythology was a surprising aspect
*The idea of a cat shifter being a witch's familiar was something new
*No cheating
*No love triangle
*Sanura's family dynamic was really strong.

DISLIKED;
*Series, now I have to go get book 2 and 3 to see how their story unfolds

When I started this book I was totally having a moment and couldn't get in to this book. After finishing it I have no idea what was going on with me! This book gave me what I was looking for and so much more. There are witches, shifters, cryptids, a dwarf, and so much more. Even better is the use of some of the lesser known mythologies. I love reading about it, but there's only so many times I can read about Greek mythology; they all start to blend or even deviate from the original stories. Assefa and Sanura are wonderful main characters. They both have strong wills that need to learn to blend together, especially if they are people in the profecy (which we know they are). Assefa has so many layers to him that I loved discovering as the book went on. I also love that Sanura is still learning the extent of her power in this book. It really takes us on a journey that I can't wait to continue.

Before I begin my review, I want to thank N.D. Jones for allowing me to review Of Fear and Faith. **All opinions expressed in this review are mine and I received Of Fear and Faith for free from the author**. Now onto the review:

My review:

3 things I liked about Of Fear and Faith:

1) The characters. While I loved all of the characters, Assefa and Sanura were my favorites. I liked that the author didn’t reveal everything about Assefa until about midway through the book. Little hints here and there that kept you guessing but when she did reveal it, it was HUGE!!!

2) New paranormal monsters. For some reason this got me really, really excited (I know, no life here). Usually, in these types of books, the author trots out your typical monster. Usually a rogue vamp or were animals. But not here. Oh no, there are sirens, Raven Mocker and Adze (I included the links in case people were wondering what they were). I was THRILLED about this. (again, no life here).

3) The sex scenes. Talk about hot, hot, hot!!! The chemistry between Sanura and Assefa was out of this world and it translated to epic hot sex.

3 things I didn’t like about Of Fear and Faith:

1) Sanura’s ex. He was a creep and just came off as unpleasant. Not going to say too much about him. You need to read the book!!!

2) Mike. I know he’s a dwarf and I know that he is supposed to be Sanura’s godfather but he was just so unpleasant in the beginning of the story that I couldn’t like him.

3) Sanura’s reaction to Assefa’s big secret. Again, not going to give anything away (read the book) but I felt that she was being a little over the top with her reaction.

How many stars will I give Of Fear and Faith? 5

Why? This was a very well written, well researched paranormal romance. You can’t help but get attached to the characters (even the not so nice ones!!!) and the sex scenes were out of this world.

Would I reread it? Yes

Would I recommend it to family and friends? Yes

Age level: Adult

Why? Very descriptive sex scenes and violence

Other books in the series? Yes. Right now, book 2 is on preorder at these sites: Amazon (Kindle and will be released on August 18th 2016). So, if I were you, I would pre-order this!!!

Oh my steaming goodness!! This was such a great book... I enjoyed it from start to finish and wanted nothing more than to sit and read my book, damn the reality!

Anyway, a lot of the books I've been reading lately have some form of god/goddesses and mythology in them - this was no exception, but, damn, was it amazing! Such an original storyline and I loved the characters created by ND Jones. There was so much complexity to both lead characters and loads of secrets going on! Loved seeing the way they interacted with each other and gave a little while holding back a lot. It was interesting to try to figure out what was happening when the writing went really vague in order to not give it all away too early. I loved the mystery and romance and suspense! Would definitely recommend this to mature readers!
