i recognize the immense power of this story, but it was really hard for me to get through because it read like a nonfiction historical account. because of the length and pacing it has taken me almost a year to finish it. i have a short attention span, so i felt myself losing interest in the second half of the book.

This book was incredible. It was hard for me to get through as it reads like a nonfiction historical narrative and is very long, but the brilliance of it is that it is fiction and detailed, it is painful and beautiful and deep. I would recommend it.

So many beautiful parts to this narrative, and things that will stick with me.

There were many parts that were difficult to read because of the subject matter, but overall the book was hard to put down. The size is definitely intimidating, but for sure worth the read.

My only complaint is that the time jumps were confusing at times and I had a hard time remembering who was who when it switched back and forth.
