Tennis is definitely one of those sports that I only watch when it’s really popular and everyone is talking about it. I like watching movies and reading books about it though. I’m not really sure why, it just works out that way.

After Wimbledon was a cute chick lit story about cutting out the absolute crap in your life and replacing it with what you really want and maybe even need. It was a sweet romance and predictable in that regard, but its predictability made it no less enjoyable.

The main character, Lucy, was a bit of a whiner. I was really waiting for the moment when she woke and took charge of her life. It took awhile, but then again that true for a lot of people in the real world. She was an entertaining character to read about and I thought pretty well-developed. She did irk me every once in a while though.

I thought the chemistry between Lucy and Sam was fantastic. I imagine they’d be an adorable couple, if they were real. I really didn’t understand her attraction/relationship with Joe. The author alluded to it starting out beneficially for both parties and things changing, but because we never saw (read) that part of Lucy’s story it just made it really easy to dislike him.

The plot was good. I liked how tennis focused everything was. It was interesting to think about the game from the players perspective and all of the media attention they have to deal with. It’s not something I normally ponder, but After Wimbledon had me doing just that.

Overall, I thought After Wimbledon was a fun read. There’s some sexual content, so readers should be 16+. For all of you chick lit lovers and those who are looking for a light, quick summer read, I would recommend After Wimbledon.

I think the best thing about this book is the description of the tennis matches. And I don't even like tennis! Ms. Roberts so expertly wrote in the matches that I felt my head and eyes darting back and forth from one end of the court to the other. It was even better than watching Wimbledon! Add that on top of a budding but forbidden romance and you've got a very enjoyable, engaging book. Another aspect that I very much appreciated is that the female athletes are unapologetic in terms of their behavior. There is no double standard where the men can run about while the women are expected to be prudes and virginal. I appreciated so many aspects of this book and would recommend to any chick lit lover, whether you like tennis or not.

I don't know much about tennis, but I found this book to be enjoyable. A love story with fame, sport, and the problems that come along with it. It provided a nice little escape into a world that I'm not familiar with but enjoyed.

I'm not always a fan of chick lit. Though I adore a lot of the old school ones like Bridget Jones's Diary, a lot of the recent ones leave me feeling annoyed. They lack good characters and the story lines usually resemble silliness worthy of Sweet Valley High books I read as a young teen. Though this books had some of the same silliness that made me roll my eyes, over all it was a enjoyable book. I loved Lucy and add to that the sights and sounds of Wimbledon, and I was hooked. Whereas I may not always love chick lit, I have been a huge tennis fan since the Wimbledon final in 1982! The matches the author described had me on the edge of my seat quite like I am when watching a real match. I do wish the male characters were written with a little more depth; one was the perfect prince and the other a complete villain. It definitely made me wonder if the author had any real life players in mind while writing the book. I know I could picture some current ATP players in her descriptions of both Sam and Joe. Overall, a really quick fun read that I'm glad I read.

Light, frothy, entertaining - just what I was in the mood for when I was in London for Wimbledon myself.

A lovely read! I picked it up because I love tennis but it was the story that drew me in. Fun and funny with likeable, but realistically flawed, characters. There's drama and sports-related tension but nothing that drags on so long that I got bored or annoyed. I'm going in search of more of her books asap.
