This book had me on the edge of my seat. The last one in the series was a little bit slow to read, but this one was moving from start to finish.

Coming fresh from just finishing this book, all I can really think is “Lordy be this book would never end”. The main conflict of the book arrives and concludes, then I have to read about 15 chapters that all could have been the final chapter. There were 3 crucial things that happened in these chapters the rest felt like drawn out filler that needed to be edited down.

Before that however I really enjoyed this book. It felt like many pieces that have been dispersed through all of the books before had finally come together. There is a clear picture of the current state of the world, the next ste of problems, and who is going to be facing those problems.

We were able to accompany the characters on journeys of discovery and confronting who they were and who they want to be. And for some of these folks, thank god it finally happened because I have been waiting for it since the first book. I do think that things worked out a little too nicely in some cases, so interesting to see if that plays out for the remainder of the series.

This book does cross some uncomfortable lines in terms of relationships leaning romantic/sexual when they shouldn’t. Nothing explicit ever happens but weird atmospheres are certainly created.

An enjoyable read with the kind of slow start I've come to expect with this series.

Manon grows on you in this one, while Chaol is more annoying than ever.

There it is!!! It took about four books but the Throne of Glass Series has finally showed its SJM magic! I enjoyed the first few books but Queen of Shadows was everything I wanted from this story! It was fast paced, well written, characters are amazing, world building through the roof! I can't wait to see what comes next!

📚 Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas
4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

⚔️ Potential spoilers ahead⚔️

Queen of Shadows has been my most tabbed read to date! It was so fast paced and emotional and lovely and sweet and heart wrenching and traumatic and hopeful. This series has me going THROUGH IT!
Rowan's return was perfect, the tension between them delicious, I am a SUCKER for the primal fae shit. The healing for both he and Aelin made my heart sing, and I just long for them to be  disgustingly in love with each other.
I read Assassin's Blade before this, so I was already feeling so much hatred towards Arobynn, so seeing him get his was *chefs kiss*.
Chaol got his redemption which I was hanging for because damn, did he just rub me all the wrong ways while he was going through his own shit.
SJM and her world building and connections never cease to amaze me! Details that felt like off handed comments in previous books coming back and playing huge parts... SARAH how do you do it?
Amazing, I'll stop singing praise for the Throne of Glass series. It has me in a chokehold.
