I really enjoyed part of this memoir, specially when LuPone is funny, almost self deprecating (she made me laugh with "The baker's wife" chapter). But what really ruined it for me was the venom she distills, specially in the chapters dedicated to "Sunset Boulevard". I understand she felt used and discarded, and it was a traumatic experience for her (according to her side of the story), but it feels like she's using this book to take revenge on several people. I prefer it when she exudes love for the theatre, like in her telling of the "Gypsy" experience.

If you even remotely enjoy musical theater or Patti Lupone you will LOVE this audiobook. I had the best time ever listening to it. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Getting to hear Patti read and tell her own story makes this an even stronger representation of her journey and her work.

To anyone who cares to disagree: "Billy, I begtadifferwithyouuu!"

Totally breaks through the stereotype of Patti as a diva. She's truly a fierce, strong, sassy, badass woman who works incredibly hard.

The ideal audiobook listen - encapsulates the iconic Patti LuPone who is uncompromisingly herself. I especially enjoyed the chapter about The Cradle Will Rock and wish it had been longer/more in depth. Full of gossip, hard work, and stories of a fantastic era in theatre.

What a woman. Incredible book, very easy to read and highly insightful. A light in dark times.
