I don’t tend to give non-fiction books star ratings but I did find this book extremely thought provoking and would recommend for people to read it to have their ideas challenged. This is a book I really want to read again, especially the chapters on rape because Despentes put forth ideas that I’ve never really seen to be discussed in this way. The writing style is very direct and forthright, some paragraphs remind me of Valerie Solanas especially in the way that gender is discussed.

This book was supposed to be about feminism… what a disappointment. This is about trauma derived from a horrible sexual assault. It can be easily read and there can be some highlights, but it can’t be considered as a feminist essay (especially when it talks about the “benefits” of prostitution), nor a book model when wanting to read about feminism. There are plenty of other books about it that are far more enriching and which are less known.

Provocateur, intéressant, intelligent et insolant. À lire absolument pour comprendre d’une autre manière le monde et la société patriarcale.

Terriblement incroyable. La façon d'écrire de Virginie Despentes et sa candeur tout au long du livre me rendent admirative. Je me réjouis de lire l'intégralité de sa bibliographie.

Wow, fuck, wow. I've never read anything like this, this is next level fuck-the-patriarchy-shit. I am here for this book, it's giving me life.
Honestly I just bought everything else she has written.
