This book was a Kindle recommendation. I loved that it was quirky, dark and a bit of a slow burner. I’m definitely going to read more of this author’s books.

My feelings while reading this book ranged from disgust to intrigue culminating in confusion.

I honestly don't know what happened at the end. I presume that's the point? But a lot of the plot went unexplained and unanswered and that's just not my cup of tea.

I really rate him as an author, I've read all three of his novels now and they've all been really enjoyable. This one is kind of cosyish crime but with an edge. 4 stars.

Hard to express why this book didn’t really capture my attention. Just kind of dry and uneventful. The characters weren’t all that likable so I was hard pressed to care what happened next. I kept waiting for a moment of extreme conflict and something would build and then fizzle into obscurity. The format was mildly interesting (an ostensible translation of a foreign novel) however the author’s note at the end stating the “foreign novel” was just sort of a mediocre publication just ended up being too prescient. So Burnet is one for two in the novels I’ve read. Thumbs up on His Bloody Project and thumbs down on this one.
