I'm a little wary of media tie-in books. Most are poor excuses for writing and written just to make a buck when a movie is released. That being said, I was delightfully surprised by this book (3.5/5). With the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Disney released an adult Han+Lando novel (Star Wars: Last Shot), a Lando comic book (Double or Nothing), a few comic books for young readers (The Mighty Chewbacca, Star Wars Adventures, and Chewie and the Courageous Kid), and this YA book. I read both the Lando comic and this book the day that I saw Solo in theaters.

If you've seen the movie, you are familiar with Han and Qi'ra's life on Correlia. The teenage smuggler-to-be works for a local crime lord named Lady Proxima. This whole novel is an adventure of Han and Qi'ra's under the rule of Lady Proxima. It ties into the movie much more than some of the other media tie-in books I've read (Phasma). It's not great quality literature, but it is definitely a fun "summer read."

A solid addition to the Star Wars canon and a quick read because it was out of my reading level by a few years.
I am a bigger fan of Han Solo in Star Wars Legends universe more than shotgunned "all my stories are just one long weekend" Disney-verse. But I think Carson does what all good SW EU writers do which is make the films better. She adds solid depth and insight to Solo's background through his life growing up on Corellia.

Loved this insight into the beginning of han and qi’ra’s relationship before we meet them in the solo film.
