While I have read a lot further and understand more the character motivations, I will stick to my guns here and rate this with regards to how I felt when I read this for the first time.
The time skip created a lot of frustration for me since we have a drastic and violent change in many characters' (especially Eren) morality and attitude. Change that, due to the time skip, we have not assisted to and that thus leave us, readers, with characters acting completely out of character out of the blue, leading to a terribly frustrating experience.
The choice for a timeskip allowed the author to keep mysteries and come later on with huge plot twists but this frustrating set of chapters was the price paid.
