I think my favorite part of this is when Amelia arranges a family meeting with all the chairs lined up in rows and herself behind a desk, and then pretends that it's a totally normal way to have a discussion.

The problem with drawing near to the end is realizing there are side characters I'm probably not going to get resolutions for.

First a couple of nit-picky things. 1. Either write a book in first person, or third person. Don't switch back and forth. 2. Provide first names for your major characters. It makes them more personal. Emerson. Who Emerson?

Now, onto more substantial matters. It wasn't terrible, it was kind of interesting. But, there were no real clues to the murderer, as far as I could tell. Just came out of left field out of a bunch of suspects. The author could have literally picked a name out of a hat at the end of the book and written an explanation for any one of them to be the killer. And I have to believe the author has never met a 4 year old. "I hope you will not take it amiss if I remark that in my opinion I ought to have been given an opportunity to examine it, particularly in view of the fact that so many other..." Seriously, no 4 year old talks like that. I don't care if he was a week away from his 5th birthday.
