In the aftermath of losing one her best friends to Strigoi, Rose fights what others think is PTSD, but is just the effects of Spirit induced visions of the dead. She’s being haunted by the ghost of a friend, but others think it’s all in her head.

Amongst what’s going on internally, the group is carted off to the vampire royal court to watch the trial of Victor Dashkov for his kidnapping and torture of Lissa. While there, we get a lot more time with the queen and learn much more about their society.

In walks a character I grew fond of during my first read through the series, Ambrose. Seemingly a blood wh0re, the young Dhampir boy is a favorite of the queen’s. He’s incredibly beautiful, but it just felt like there is so much more to him that we never learn about.

The end of this book really rocks your world while reading it. We finally get more from Dimitri and Rose’s flirtations, but our excitement is short lived when Strigoi attack the school. And we end the book on somewhat of a cliffhanger…

I truly LOVE this series and can’t wait to see it play out in its new television show. I want the characters to finally get the new fans they deserve!!! And maybe we’ll get a new spin-off series…. Maybe?

Definitely my favorite Vampire Academy book so far. I'm still not entirely sold on the series overall, but I did enjoy this book.

So this book and I were having a good time, enjoying ourselves, just getting along. And, then the last few chapters happened and they hurt me and they hurt me bad. I'm going to go to bed now and not sleep as I think about my emotionally distraught feelings.

I AM STILL IN SUCH A STATE OF SHOCK. When people said that Shadow Kiss is the Vampire Academy book that takes off and hits the ground running, there was no exaggeration. I'm really anxious about seeing how the series continues from here. If I ever manage to pick my jaw up off the ground, I'll write a proper review.
