Another update from our favorite characters, but this one feels a bit off from the other books written so far...the exotic setting paired with a power hungry king teaming up with Ombrah makes for a wild ride, but for me it was missing the OOMPH.

The third (or 4th if you count the shorter, more juvenile "Cave of the Dark Wind") in the series continues to fill in the backstory of the Peter Pan tales. Time has passed and everyone's getting older except Peter and Tinkerbell. The boys on Mollusk Island with Peter are growing older and are becoming bored by their surroundings and want to return to England, but we have a lot more adventures in this book to eliminate their boredom.

During the adventures we learn a bit about Peter's parents, how the boys from the orphanage came to be on the ship in the first book (Peter and the Starcatchers), how the crocodile wound up with a clock inside it, and a bit more about the nature of "star stuff."

Even though there are a fair number of pages (almost 500), the story moves along quite quickly among Mollusk Island, England, France, and Rundoon, a middle eastern sort of place near the ocean.

The CD version is narrated by Jim Dale, who could make a phone book sound good. I switched between the book and CD.

Another hit! The backstory of all of JM Barrie's characters is perfect and completely unpredictable. I continue to be surprised that these books are fantastically fun, original and exciting without ruining or taking anything away from the original Peter Pan! Well done!

These are thoroughly enjoyable books. I can’t read them fast enough. They keep me on the edge of my seat very much like the Inkheart series did. So good!!

This wasn't quite as good as the first two, but was still a rousing adventure story.

Amamzing continuation in the series. Blew my mind; so many amazing details woven into the story. I can't wait to read the fourth book and I can't wait for the fifth to come out!

I am so glad I gave this series a chance. The final book had everything I wanted. I feel though when it came to the events 'explored' in the Peter Pan story, those were all nicely threaded into the plot lines we already knew.

The reason why I'm giving this book only one star less than five is this:

SpoilerWe figure out Peter's last name, but we never discover what happened to his parents. Were they killed? Did they escape? What on earth happened to them? For a long while I thought that Lord Ombra was Peter's father (like some Darth Vader thing going on), however that never happened). Maybe it will be explored in the other two books?

Another thing is that Hook is not very well developed throughout the entire series. I really hoped that there was more insight on his background or his reasons for hating Peter so badly (besides his hand getting cut off), but it just ended up being... nothing. He ended up being more of a comedy trope than an actual foe to Peter.

The third book in this series is where I will end. Maybe one day I'll read the other two. But for now, I rather read where it was intended to end and use the story and the Disney film as the continuing adventure.

I urge anybody who is looking for a fun series that reminds them of Artemis Fowl and the Matt Cruise series to pick this one up. It's fun!

Another fun volume with Peter and the Starcatchers. This time they have to confront forces that are trying to reverse the creation of the universe. Peter and Molly have an adventure to Rundoon, discovering some lost friends, and some of the pirates and the mollusk island native have their own battle back on the island. The story moves along really quickly and is so adventurous and fun. Great kids read.
