Covering very important topics of gender, sexuality, fast fashion, capitalism, racism, sexism, addiction, and mental illness, Bimini really covers it all! The book is a mixture of self help and a manifesto for allyship and community activism.
I particularly appreciated Bimini’s personal stories around their school life, gender and sexuality, and struggles with addiction in its different forms. It was incredibly moving to hear their reflections and the lessons they learnt from what they’d experienced. The section about going on the yoga retreat was particularly interesting to me and I would have loved to read more.
I love their narratorial voice and listening to it as an audiobook was very special. I appreciated hearing about who Bimini looks up to and wants to uplift.
The social and political activism sections of the book felt quite simplistic and repetitive at times, but I think it’s a good start for someone who is beginning to think more intersectionally.

A mix between an autobiography and a self- help book (though it is more biographical). I really loved to read it! I would recommend it to anyone, especially to those who struggle with their gender and/ or identity in general.

I found it really informative around sexuality and gender, as well as different people’s perceptions of gender and sexuality. It also gave suggestions of further reading/viewing that readers may find interesting.
Minor: Addiction, Alcoholism, Homophobia, and Transphobia
