2.5 stars - It wasn't bad but I felt like I had read this story before (even tho I hadn't). What's more I felt like I had read this story by this author before and that it because it is VERY similar to all the other Veronica Scott books I have read. Basically military hero rescues heroine from bad guys/danger. They are stuck on a planet on the run from bad guys, stumble over alien plot that must be communicated to HQ, have sex and declare their undying love for each other after only knowing each other for a couple of days, manage to get message out to the good guys get picked and decide to get married. the end. So I guess if you love VS's other books you will probably like this one. Not that it was bad - just that it lacks originality plus I found the sex scene awkward and out of place. Sarah has just spent almost 2 months being beaten and abused (no rape but sexual abuse is alluded to) by pirates yet we are supposed to believe that after 3 days in Johnny's company she is suddenly ok with lots of sex. I had no problem with them developing feelings for each other but to jump straight into sex just didn't fit.
