This was interesting book to read. I liked that the book was a page turner. The story made the book easy to read, however some of the wording or verbiage was to flamboyant. Keeping the wording simple to the point helps the reader enjoy the book more, without reading a word that they have to determine the meaning. I appreciate that the writer supplied the readers a very entertaining book filled with excitement and secrets to divulge.
All the characters were wonderful and charming. I also would like to say thank you to the author for writing the age range for the heroine as twenty four or older. The book is definitely a romantic read that’s gives the readers a happy ending.

Historical romance is well on its way to becoming my favourite genre and I’m not mad about that. I loved reading this book and there was no point in which I was bored or felt reluctant to keep reading, I was just hooked constantly. I loved Hetty and Ash both together as a growing couple and independently as themselves and I thought they were both well fleshed out and the developments they both went to was so rewarding to read about. I cannot wait to read more from Lenora Bell.

NOTE: I didn’t realise this was technically a sequel when I brought it so I have since ordered the first book which I will read, most likely when it arrives, but this did not hinder my experience whilst reading as, from the first book’s synopsis, those two characters are only briefly in this book so it didn’t feel too major when I knew I would be reading their book in the very near future.

The Devil's Own Duke is a lovely book. Book's premise: Ash Ellis claims he is the distant relative of the Duke of Granville and thus the heir to the dukedom. He intends to convert the land from a vineyard to a horse breeding farm. Hetty is the duke's daughter. She is a winemaker and the vineyard is her life. She is willing to battle Ash to prevent the vineyard's destruction. As the two battle for the land; they are also battling their feelings.

The two main characters, Hetty and Ash have great chemistry. Bell does a great job with developing the relationship as the two match wits with each other, support each other, and grow to love each other. I also enjoyed the supporting characters too (e.g. Hetty's father). As with many of Lenora Bell's books there are several scenes that will make you laugh out loud too.

Book's weak point: The villain. The introduction seemed pointless and did not move the story much for me.

Overall, a great read.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon for this ARC in exchanged for my fair and honest review. All opinions contained in this review are my own.

Lady Henrietta has a goal: not losing her precious vineyards to the Crown. Because that’s exactly what will happen if her father doesn’t remarry and sire an heir. She’s dedicated all her life to her dream of making the best wine in England, to the cost of sacrificing everything else. But then unexpectedly someone claims to be the long-lost heir to the dukedom and threatens all she has worked so hard to built. Ash Ellis, known as the Devil’s Own Scoundrel, is an uncouth man, who has risen from the slums and owns a gambling hell. And now he’s set his sights on the dukedom…
That’s the very intriguing start of this book and I was captivated by it, but not as much as I would have liked. I think that the author tried to throw in too many things (feminism with the Boadicea Club, child labor, gangs of young pickpockets, con artists, but also wine making) and the result was a little bit confusing. I liked Henrietta very much for her strength and courage, but sometimes she was… too much, too obsessed with her goals. As the same goes for Ash, even if his past maybe justifies his actions. And there’s a Dickensian villain as well, a trifle too cartoonish in my opinion. All in all, an enjoyable book and I’ll certainly try other Lenora Bell’s books, even if this is not the best book that I read recently.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I struggled with this. I didn't like the heroine. I didn't like the hero. I didn't like the romance. I didn't like the audio book narrator. First disappointment from Lenora Bell for me.

I enjoyed the first book in the series, [b:Love Is a Rogue|50706457|Love Is a Rogue (Wallflowers vs. Rogues, #1)|Lenora Bell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1587076923l/50706457._SY75_.jpg|73784036][b:Love Is a Rogue|50706457|Love Is a Rogue (Wallflowers vs. Rogues, #1)|Lenora Bell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1587076923l/50706457._SY75_.jpg|73784036], but this book was just not for me. I did not feel any chemistry between Hatty and Ash. I thought the writing and the plot was trite, and I had to force myself to finish reading.
