Harry Potter's re-entrance into the wizarding world after living for 10 years with non-magical relatives and being kept in the dark about his past. We see Harry make friends from the minute he gets on the school train, the high and low points of his first school year, as well as his latest encounter with the darkest wizard the country has seen in many years.

I've decided it's time to re-read this series!! Well, actually, I'm listening to it. There's no one like Jim Dale! His narration is so wonderful.
From the very start of Chapter 1, I felt so immediately re-enchanted with the series. It's been some time since I've gone all the way back to the beginning. I just love how perfectly formed the characters are right from the beginning. I think hearing the descriptions of each member of the Dursley family is even better after you know them. Everything is so vivid & on the nose. They really come off the page.
The whole book was a fun adventure. I've loved the series for years but because it's been so long since I've read it, I think I forgot how truly great it is.
My favorite part of this book is the final chapter when Harry has his conversation with Dumbledore. There's so many quotable lines. Dumbledore's wisdom, matched with his kindness, it so incredibly inspirational.
“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”
