This book started slow and it never picked up the pace. It took until 42% for something evil to happen and 71% until the antagonist actually showed up. Even then, there was nothing that truly captured my interest because we still don't know the antagonist's motives. The fight scenes were short and perfunctory, which is a shame because there could've been so much more done with all that magic. And demons? I was genuinely expecting a lot more action.

I feel like like read the book completely glazed over, so I won't be continuing the series or the spin-offs.

I just wanted to read a fun, witchy story, but this one was not for me. It was super slow at the beginning, I never really got invested in any of the characters, and I know this is the first in a series, but it is still not great to just have the story stop without any kind of ending… I don’t think I will continue the series…

If you want a quick read with witches and a good old mystery, I'd say read this!

This book was enjoyable and who doesn't like witches!

I was going to give 3 stars, but that ending just had to get a star taken away. A book should have a complete and final ending; this ending was abrupt and unfinished.

The storyline was well thought out but the execution could've been better. The author seemed to do a lot of copping out; such as the characters thought of things just for the sake of the story or even did things that did not make sense.

The author was also too descriptive and wordy on what people wore and on things that added nothing to the overall storyline. Along with this action scenes aren't the authors strong points and when action is the main focus it means that the major show-down never transpires and is over before it even started.

I would've probably picked up book 2, but the ending has just turned me off for now...maybe later.

OK i tried but I can't do it, I'm dropping it at 58%.The writing and the dialogue just don't work, the characters are extremely shallow and the world building is basically nonexistent (how does the magic work? Idk and I think the author doesn't either). Disappointing

It was fine. The magic system was nothing special, but the adventure was intriguing. The characters weren't really developed all that much, and the plot was decent.
