Una de les primeres obres tràgiques de la literatura europea i universal.

La traducció m'ha sorprès gratament. La prosa és molt eloqüent i no pots evitar de posar-te en la pell de tots els personatges que apareixen a l'obra. Costa de creure que es va escriure per primer cop fa més de 2000 anys, els sentiments de gelosia, ràbia i tristesa no han canviat gens ni mica. La misogínia és tant descarada que es llegeix satíricament, tot i que diria que es va plantejar com a fet evident i seriós que les dones són histèriques i descontrolades per naturalesa.

El seu punt feble és que és bastant superficial. Només explora la superfície de la traïció i el dilema de Medea, trobo que hagués pogut expandir sobre la seva història i els pensaments. La núvia, el sogre i els fills tenen personalitats bastant planes, no sabem qui són i per tant, la seva pèrdua no ens afecta personalment, només en relació a Medea i Jàson, a qui sí que coneixem més.

Jason: i can't believe you did all of this because of sexual jealousy

this just in: men don't understand anything

this is a tragedy and obviously i don't condone murdering your own children but being driven into a murderous insanity because your husband betrayed you, thinks you're a barbarian, will never acknowledge anything you did for him, and in fact thinks that you should be thankful that he's decided to remarry because he's doing it FOR you . . . makes sense. I understand how she got there. And even though I hate Zeus and Hera I'm happy Thunder Dad and the Nagging Nightmare agreed that like "actually Jason you were in the wrong here?" after this play and Jason died friendless and alone <3
