It was OK. The thing that bothered me the most is that I finished the book without kowing what anyone or much anything looked like. There are more questions than answers, and for a first-of-the-series book, no other characters are introduced in a way that would make me want to read their stories. I liked the characters, but I couldn't understand Crux's reluctance to tell Courtney she was his mate. Really, couldn't have taken more than 10 seconds to answer her question of why she could use his fire powers: "well, my mate can borrow my power. You're my mate" THERE! easy! But no, we had to have a conflict! Because hiding from the slavers wasn't enough, I guess?

Book #6 of Stuff You Earbuds Day

Male narrators whining as female characters? No. Just no.

I should have known an Alien Mate Smut book wouldn't satisfy my Slow-burn loving Enemies-to-lovers heart, but oh well.

I am human.

Crux is a quick read, kinda YA with immature seeming characters, but has some passionate sexiness.  Definitely YA.  It was fun, quick and I love Courtney kicks butt with a pair of skates.  The same skates she cared more about in the beginning than the fact she was kidnapped by aliens.  And he comedy was fun when people kept thinking she was on drugs.

This is a pretty solid fun little romance. Not deep, not always plausible, but fun.

I really hated the voice the audiobook reader used for the FMC's dialogue, so that was a disappointment.
