this was much better than i expected it to be, though i don't know why because really the vast majority of slender man media is very very good. and it's very apparent that the writer of this is aware of and has a passion for the mythos. definitely not the best story in the world, but as someone who's been a big fan since the beginning, this was a pleasant surprise! this came out the same year as the movie, and it's very unfortunate it flew under the radar while that piece of shit made money.

this book also doesn't subtly sensationalize real world crimes connected to the character, so. that's a bonus.

not sure if you'll like this if you're not already into the mythos, but the writing is solid, the imagery is vivid, the use of slender man doesn't borrow too much from series like marble hornets, and it's all in all a quick read. don't expect anything groundbreaking, but give it a go, especially if you're interested in any of the mythos that media like marble hornets and everymanhybrid established.
