I can't be trusted for an objective opinion on this book since I love Firefly to distraction, but I feel as though this book was a pretty brilliant move forward from Serenity (the movie); the story was good, the characters were pretty dead on, and the art is gorgeous (to be expected from Jeanty, of course). I'm only sad there's not more of it, and I wish so hard we could get big novels; many novels. All the novels. But alas. At least we got this lovely book, and
SpoilerMAL AND INARA THANK YOU OMG YAY. YAY OMG.
Sorry, got a little carried away there. *cough* I warned you.

Anyway, I know it's been over ten years. I will never, ever let it go. Judge me if you must, IDGAF. Browncoat forever, yo.

More of this, please. The film Serenity was amazing, and everything a fan could've asked for when it comes to cancelled TV shows. It wrapped things up as best it could in a single film, and it did so amazingly. But that doesn't stop fans from still wanting to know what happens next, and that's exactly what this gives. Stand-alone adventures are great, but continuing the story the film started was awesome. Here's hoping they continue the story even more.

The short story "It's Never Easy" was also really good. Like with the single-issues of volume 2, it was just a really fun, short, self-contained story that felt like an episode of the show, and that's high praise.

I really enjoyed having some small continuation of the series. There was so much potential left in the TV show, so it's nice to know more of the vision.

I've mentioned my ambivalence about the character art, but what I really missed during this book was the actors themselves. I love a good comic, but the actors do such a gorram good job playing these guys that it leaves a bit of a hole.

So I enjoyed it, but I wish you'd make another TV season instead.

You know sometimes the comics don't get it right. Especially when the canon in question exists in different medias. However, this comic gets it so right. The dialogue and the plot all read just a season of Firefly. I laughed out loud several times and teared up a few. I rooted for the crew of Serenity and was so pleased to see some of those that were gone remembered. Inara's dialogue felt a little off to me at times, but her arc has come so far that she is a different person now than she was before. An absolute must read for fans of the show.

I love Firefly and Serenity and any official 'verse stories make me a very happy man. But as some other reviews have pointed out, the artwork at times was a bit off and wonky.
Good parts. Some of the dialogue felt spot on, little quirks and turns of phrase just took me right back, marvelous! Bea obvious attempts at looking exactly like Mal, down to shirt, pants and boots. Plus the lovely browncoat, damn do I want one of those :)
All in all, another great chapter in the Firefly saga. Looking forward to the next installment!

If there was one question however I could ask it would be: how the hell did they find the operative and how did Early survive his time in space? ok fine two questions haha :)

Checked this out from the library to continue the comfort reading. Several short stories in the 'verse, and the continuation of character stories. Overall good.

This was like reading an episode of the show or the sequel to the movie, and I thought it was totally great. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more in this series.

My only complaint is that the art tries to be, perhaps, just a little too photorealistic or too close to what the actors actually look like. It really just makes it come off as a media tie-in rather than it's own creative entity. I really liked Fabio Moon's art for the little one-shot included at the end here.

Following on from Serenity and Wash's comic "Float Out", this volume is a rip-roaring adventure that could have easily been the plot of Serenity 2. A few familiar adversaries show their faces, a few new people are thrown into the mix, and we see the crew back in action several months on from their big screen adventure. And, of course, it's left open for yet another sequel... let's hope that comes soon.

[2017 Note: Re-read this as I was starting "No Power in the 'Verse" and had completely forgotten ALL of the details of this particular volume... so it needed a reread. 3 years between stories is a LOOONG time...]
