finally finished this, and I don't know why I waited so long to read it, or to pick it back up. I'm glad I finally did and I won't take two years to read the other two now :)

Fave book out of the 3 in the series. Love the short stories, easy to read.

Vampires, werewolves, witches. What else do you expect when you hear of Night World? It's nice too see how the characters are linked, how it plays with your emotions (maybe it's just me, lol). Well, it's a fun and light reading, sometimes spooky, that is if you are used to how these supernatural world usually works and intertwined. Otherwise, it might be a little too quirky. But, i'd say the love stories are cute and well...cliche.

newest reread rating (2023): 5/5 stars

Every time I reread this set of books, I’m reminded how much the first three is my absolute FAVORITE. I love all of the simple forbidden love trope, the angst, the cringe, everything. It’s all good and simple paranormal romance before it all hits the fan and makes me a tense lil reader come the next 6 books.

***

5/5 stars, this set of three is honestly my favorite books out of the Night World series.

I first read this book when I was in middle school and it's exactly how I remembered it. I ended up almost mouthing what the characters' said -- though not verbatim.

Since it's been so long when I read this book lost, I also forgot how much I love James, Poppy, Ash, Thea, and Blaise. I love them all so much and their progression throughout the novels from individuals to a couple was developed.

I'm trying to see the build up to the overall plot in the third novel and I don't see it. There is a bit of a hint, but it wasn't a hint that I would consider easy to connect since you can assume that it's about humans and the Night World starting to connect to one another again. Like, I wouldn't have been angry if she kept it to just forbidden romances since it feels like that build up to the huge plot twists in the third book just isn't there.

The corniness takes me by surprise every time and it did take me out of the book because I would just burst into giggles each time. I get that this was the whole point of these books since it does take place around the 90s and focuses on forbidden romances and soulmates. It also doesn't help that the stories are fairly short so corniness was there.

Overall, it was a quick read and I love these series.

This book was OK, nothing super fabulous. But a good supernatural fix until the next Stephenie Meyer book comes out. It's actually three stories combined into one book. I'm curious to see if the next volume is a continuation of these stories or all new ones. The chick isn't the best writer and it was distracting me.

{my thoughts} - This is the first three books to the Night World series. The first book had me at the introduction. I fell in love with the characters and enjoyed the storyline.

Secret Vampire

Poppy is a young girl that is dying. She has no choice but to accept her fate. She has a close friend named James that visits her on a normal basis. He tells her that he can help her to keep living but there is a price. She had a hard choice to make, but in the end she decides it’s in her best interest.

She is a strong individual. She knows what she wants and she wants to live. She doesn’t want her life to end a such a young age. She has the desire to become more and do more with her life. I can relate. I understand what that is like. All and all she is a sweet girl and I enjoyed reading about her and James.

Daughters of Darkness

This book is centered around the lives of three vampire sisters. They don’t like their life so they run away to live with their aunt. When they get to her house they come to discover that she is dead. Their brother shows up and it comes to light that now it is up to them to find out what happened to their aunt and why. While they are trying to sort all this out they are attacked by a werewolf and they are forced to put and end to him.

This book is fast paced and intriguing. I enjoyed learning about the new characters while still learning about some from previous books. It was laid out nicely and made for a really good read in my honest opinion.

Spellbinder

This book is centered around two witches. They are cousins but like sisters. Because of that they get along about as good as a couple of sisters do. In the end though they are able to pull themselves together enough to help each other in a means of protecting the other from harm and danger. In other words they learn to look our for each other despite the jealous like behaviors they each display.

{reason for reading} - I had bought it at wal-mart for something new to read.
