The short-stories in this book made me feel the same as Helen Oyeyemi’s ’What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours’: each of the stories had interesting stories and premises and would’ve liked to stay with them longer. I did dislike Nishino from the start and am not interested in themes considering sex. Although the translation felt wonky from time to time, I’m interested in reading more of the authors work!

Not really my cup of tea. Nishino remains an enigma throughout, which is likely the point, and fine as far as it goes, but I also I never felt any connection to the 10 loves of his life. I just didn't care.

loved it chewed it slayed it - the woman at the cutest book store in the world said i would love it and SHE WAS RIGHT!!! i was expecting a bit more self reflection bits as jlit usually makes me want to think about myself more than the actual character’s lives but sooo many pretty quotes and sweet and sad stories i can’t wait to read people from my neighborhood and NEEEEDDD to read the nanako thrift shop soon
