How can a middle aged man write about a teenage girl so well? 
It's a short book but it's very depressing. The main character is complicated and self aware of the fact that she is, it has some very beautiful quotes and overall I felt Like this book was quite philosophical. 
I read this book because of the anime character from Bungou Stray Dogs ( amazing anime, do recommend ) while I didn't actually enjoy No Longer Human for its treatment of female characters, this book has redeemed Dazai Osamu as an author in my eyes

very well written, and a fantastic idea — but it is weird to read a man’s take on the inner workings of a teenage girl and the loss of girlhood.

I love this book from the bottom of my heart.
