To say I wasn’t prepared for this book is an understatement.

I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did. I definitely wasn’t expecting for it to still my heart either.

Greta & Otis are everything.

It’s funny bc I didn’t realize the chokehold they had on me til I finished the book. Like I had no idea what to with myself after I finished  that epilogue. Literally no clue.

At first I was worried bc they’re emotional connection was definitely a slow burn. I’m someone that needs to feel that strong connection between the characters, in order to fully enjoy the story. So I was very hesitant when that wasn’t being delivered initially. But the beauty of Greta & Otis’ relationship is that it’s gradual. As the reader, you get to see all the ways  they’re similar before they open up to each other. So even though they weren’t actually sharing intimate information with each other you could see how perfect they were for one another.

They’re playful banter was so fun. The way they just got each other of the bat * squeals just thinking about it*. They’re chemistry is truly unmatched!

They were constantly towing the line of “more than friends less lovers” & I loved every bit of it.

I loved how we also focused on their  individual growth. Because they both had toxic attributes that they would sometimes take out on each other. So their break was definitely necessary. I loved how we got intimate look on that journey as well.

Otis. OH MY GOSH. He was such a refreshing mmc to read about. He didn’t have that toxic masculinity mindset. He is the definition of boy obsessed. And he wasn’t ashamed admit it. Yes, he had his moments but for the most part  he’s was absolutely swoon worthy. From his cooking & cleaning to being so down to do whatever Greta wanted. Ultimately he just wanted to be around her.

& Greta!!! IM OBSESSED. I love that girl so much.  She just has “that’s my girl” energy (iykyk). She’s such a complex character. I loved getting to peel back all those layers. Greta has very nonchalant attitude but she’s someone that feels so deeply. She cares so much about the people in her close knit circle. She’s was just hurting...(ahhh not me tearing up).  I actually related to her a lot - which is probably why she means so much to me. I mentioned this before but her healing journey specially hit  hard. I was a mess by the end of the book. No literally I couldn’t stop crying. I had to take a break from reading. It was painful to read but incredibly beautiful.

I genuinely believe that everyone needs to read this book. It’s flirty and fun but emotional and impactful. Greta & Otis will stick with me forever 🤍

First off, can we all take a moment to appreciate the sheer beauty that is this cover?! When I saw this book, I was immediately in love with the cover, but also equally intrigued by the premise. With a mix of a college sports romance, friends with benefits, A LOT OF SPICE! Strong, sassy female lead, and a great male lead to pair perfectly, this book had a lot of amazing qualities that had me hooked from the very beginning.

This story centered on Greta, a college student just trying to make the most out of the frat party her friend dragged her to, while also hoping people didn’t recognize her. The reason why Greta didn’t want people recognizing was because, her dad was the college’s football coach, and she wanted no association with football whatsoever. Just when it all seemed like a boring night, Greta stumbled upon a handsome stranger outside the party, and what started out as sharing a smoke turned into tension, flirting, and an offer to head back to Greta’s apartment for a night of steamy, no strings attached fun. That night Greta and her one night stand were equally satisfied, but wait one more thing, turns out the handsome guy Greta slept with was the quarterback of the football team her dad coaches… uh oh.

Greta and Otis didn’t waste anytime in the beginning to hop into bed with each other, and it was quite a steamy, hot night they shared. Greta was the kind of girl that went after what she wanted, and was very comfortable with her sexuality and confidence in the ways of the bedroom *wink, wink. Otis was equally confident and had his own way of unraveling Greta in a way she hadn’t experienced before. The sexually chemistry between Greta and Otis was fiery, fun, and dare I say… dirty in the best way possible? YES! Just from the beginning alone, I KNEW this was going to be a spicy book, and it didn’t take away from the sexy surprises I came across later in the book. If you’re looking for a spicy book, then this is definitely a book to read!

Otis was all kinds of a cinnamon roll yet also had a very sexy, dominant side that came out whenever he was with Greta. Phew and talk about the dirty talk with all the praise, calling Greta a “good girl”, and even more delicious chapters (sigh) yeah I was kinda living for all the naughty stuff! OMG! But I also genuinely liked how much of a sweetie Otis really was. For a tough, tall muscular quarterback, Otis had his fair share of funny moments throughout the book. I especially loved seeing Otis get all flustered around Greta, that guy couldn’t help but want Greta all to himself, and just love being around her.  Otis was the perfect blend of being the best, doting son/older brother, a gentleman, to a generous man in bed making sure to meet Greta’s every need. Of course, Greta also made sure to drive Otis mad with desire, and he was driven to the point of hammering away at Greta! Suffice to say, Greta and Otis went at it like rabbits. I also loved seeing Otis be a total softie, and let’s take a moment to appreciate all the sweet things he did from cooking Greta breakfast, getting her flowers when volunteering at her school where she works, and more. Also something about the way Otis wearing his glasses just spoke to me, and I knew EXACTLY how Greta was feeling when she saw him, kind of like seeing Henry Cavill as Clark Kent wearing his glasses gets me going PHEW HAVE MERCY!

While this book had A LOT OF SPICE, there was also a level of depth to it from the vulnerability that Otis and Greta had. With the agreement that they would have a “friends with benefits”, no relationship, no strings attached thing, Greta and Otis were having lots of fun, and the sexual relationship between was HOT! That being said, they was still an emotional block that prevented from Greta and Otis from moving forward. Greta was insistent on keeping things casual, but even with that in mind, she found imagining how easy and natural it would be for Otis and her to be in an actual relationship. Otis obviously could picture more with Greta, but with football being his main focus, he agreed with the friends with benefits arrangement. I would definitely agree that this story had a slow burn in terms of the emotional side since, it took a good amount of time for Greta to fully bare herself to Otis and open about herself. Greta was use to being independent, being closed off, and keeping things how she saw for, casual and no emotions, but over time, her walls started to fall apart, and felt like she could relive herself of the grief and burdens she felt crowding her. To see the progress of Greta going from tough and guarded to open and fully honest with Otis was like a breath of fresh air having everything out in the open. Even Otis had his own things to work on from his mentality of not feeling like he wasn’t good enough, his anger issues. Otis, and Greta weren’t perfect, they had their flaws just like we all do, but as the story went on, they took the initiative to work on themselves so that by the time they reached the point of truly being together officially, they were on equal standing, had an understanding that they would be there for each other in every way possible.

Wow, this was such a fun, amazing, whirlwind book full of humor, snarky and hilarious banter to Greta being a confident woman to Otis’s sweet cinnamon roll ways melting my heart. This was one of those books I had my eye on for the longest time, and it lived up to the hype for me. I can definitely say this was a SPICY book, lots of sex positivity that I appreciated being explored and highlighted in Greta and Otis’s relationship. I also loved the multicultural representation from Greta and Otis’s backgrounds which was lovely to see depicted throughout the story. Greta and Otis had great character growth from Greta being vulnerable and allowing herself to fully accept her feelings for Otis and Otis working on his anger issues, and more with the help of therapy. Greta and Otis were buckets of fun, they had me smiling and equally blushing from the stuff they said and did WHOA! Overall, I loved this book, and the way it all worked out. The epilogue was pretty sentimental and still had the trademark funny charm that Otis and Greta brought to the story. There were so many amazing things I loved about this book, and I would highly recommend you give it a read.
