Loved the illustrations--the kids had such personality, and the details were lovely. For such a simple plot (enjoying a snow day), the writing and story stood out as something more. Captured well the childlike glee of a snow day in its various forms.

A dancer wakes up to a world covered in snow, and treats an empty field as her stage. But when the rest of the neighborhood wakes up and ruins the peace, she - along with a new friend - find a way to dance through the chaos.

This book was beautifully illustrated and the text was lovely. My little thought it was quite cute and wanted to read it again right away.

Would have been four stars but what was up with the one character who looked like a big-headed monster with no neck??

Beautifully written and illustrated. The onomatopoeia was fun, as were the characters. There's a nice message in it as well.

Magical vibrancy

This is a gorgeous picture book that sparkles on every page. I believe the message to be that there is magic in everything and it is what you make of your situation that makes it. The illustrations are full of graceful, whimsical, playful motion. Sofia is a girl who inspires magic. She sees the world around her and is transported. Others around her feel it and are brought in tow. Highly recommended for anyone who is human.

Fun

A short and fun book looking at a very different form of snow fun. Snow is amazing fun for everyone in different ways and I appreciate that this one looks at the silence of it.

A lovely wintery book about a young girl who dances in the silent snowy park before all the city noises begin. Great links to PE with the description of all her different movements. Children could also think about music, creating their own sounds to accompany the boom at different points such as when it is snowing but the city is silent, when all the children are playing and when the city noises begin. A lovely read aloud book for FS and KS1 children. There are themes of friendship and inclusion which could be explored through discussion.
