oh my god this book is a trip. I HATEDD this book while reading it up until the plot twist. It very much normalizes toxic relationships, toxic fighting, every toxic behavior, and even kinda altercations, that being said !!!!! do not romanticize any of it !!!!!!! this book reminds me so so so much of my toxic relationship so it was kind of hard to read at times. i love magnolia so so much and i hate bj so so so much and i hate things that he does to magnolia and i hate that it’s somehow normalized in this universe. I was so rooting for magnolia to choose tom :( the plot twist actually made me sick to my stomach. my literal stomach started churning palms started sweating and heart started racing. had to actually stop reading and look around me multiple times while reading the end to remind myself that I’m not in a similar situation Magnolia is in in the book anymore. ALL THAT BEING SAID, I’m def reading the next ones. and praying everyday that magnolia is done with bj for GOOD.

i’m feeling so very many emotions right now wow wow wow.
this book cut me into a million little pieces and ate me up for breakfast lunch and dinner. i genuinely have no idea how i’m going to move on.
the writing is so good, i really feel like i’m in the characters (especially magnolias) head hearing her every thought the way she thinks it.
Spoiler
i hate that things with south with christian, tom, and surely any of her next guys too (which if tiktok spoilers are correct will be julien haites?). she really deserves so so much better than bj😭😭

i cant believe i have to read daisy’s book in the middle before i can get answers for that insane cliffhanger this book ended on omg.
my biggest complaint about the book is how toxic the main couple is (and every relationship tbh)… i knew it was bad but i didn’t realise how just how bad!
4.9/5 only because bj is awful and i hate that i think despite everything he does she’ll end up with him💔

I instantly fell in love with the friend group and the vibes (love the found family trope), very gossip girl vibes as everyone says. But was not a big fan at all of the writing style - 1-3 similies and metaphors per page is a bit overkill (read page 306 if you want a prime example). The characters and relationships are SO toxic it's ridiculous.

HOWEVER, I couldn't put it down, I kept thinking about it when I wasn't reading, I was obsessed. I have not read a book this long in such a short amount of time. I devoured it.

I have such mixed emotions - I can’t tell if I loved it or hated it or probably both. It is very made in chelsea and there’s a lot of drama but not much really happens and by the end it’s kind of repetitive. Occasionally something outside the main will-they-won’t-they happens but then that plot point just fades away. It is kinda 2010s fanfic in the way stuff is described, but the most jarring thing is the odd description or word that doesn’t fit the London/UK setting: ie referring to school years as grades etc. I saw the ending coming
Spoilerbecause the way it was a secret meant it could only be her sister or best friend
and it was a bit unsatisfying but overall I read it on holiday in a swimming pool so it definitely did what it needed to

It’s super toxic so if you don’t romanticize it and understand that this is not what a real life relationship should look like, it’s a good angsty/pining read!

But also, justice for Tom, man 🥲

This book needs an editor and a half. On one page she had blue eyes, the next they were green. She was wearing pants and then suddenly it was a dress. Things like that happened literally every chapter lmao. Also all of the characters were awful and I hated all of them and this is just heterosexual bullshit :)

bj ballentine is the worst character i have ever read. he makes me sick. magnolia also has her problems but bj is just horrible. book is only getting 3.5 stars because although it is beautifully written, it was very repetitive for me. will probably read the rest of the mp universe though!
