Alrighty, another book to check off the 'read before it hits theaters' category. Honestly, I wish the action picked up a little more at the start. I found myself not caring as much as I could have until a little past the halfway point... and then the end escalated REAL FAST. That said, I had the same problem with this as I did The Maze Runner - I loved the idea behind it, but it could've been written a little better. Rose seemed very one-dimensional for the majority of this book, and Lissa didn't seem like anything at all for the first half. Once that halfway point is cleared though they both get some pretty good development, and by the end you want to know more - which you can, since I learned this is a first-in-four series! I'm curious to see where they take it, and I love the history they throw in. It's more than just typical vampire lore, it's Moroi and Dhampirs and Strigoi which add a little twist to the usual teen vampire thing, and I thought the extra history and backstory to read up on was one of the better parts for sure!

LEIDA 1:
This book is one of my favorite, all the time I can feel exactly like the protagonist, Rose. I can only say this: I LOVE IT!

I realy enjoy the fact of the Rose is the protagonist and no how supposed to be Vasilissa the royal moroi.

The prohibited love between Rose and Dimitri is odd, He is too old for her and I prefer Mason, but the between Lissa and Christian is so wonderfull. I LOVED Christian in the moment i read him, the same case whit Mason.

LEIDA 2:

Okey, voy a admitirlo, Rose es mala gente, es una pinchi bullie, no puedo defenderla...
Sigo amando el libro, igual o mas que la primera ves que lo leí.

Lately I have been going through the oldest books on my the. This series was one of them. Since I have been a a huge vampire and witch kick lately, I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a chance. I went in with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this! The pacing was good, story and characters were interesting, and I love that instead of centering itself around a romance it mostly centered around the strong friendship between the protagonist (a dhampire guardian) and the vampire she is supposed to protect. Yes, the climax was a bit anticlimactic, things wrapped up a bit easily, and no fight ever seemed too dangerous. All reasons I couldn't give it more than 4 stars. However, I pretty much inhaled this and I'm eager to get to the next book in the series.
