I was going to give this 3.5 stars, rated 3, but I've decided to round up instead of down because actually, there was a lot of interesting stuff going on here. The woman who died was a sadist who kept her grown children absolutely and frighteningly dependent on her, so those dynamics were actually very intriguing and realistic. The outsider opinions of the family were equally so. Add to that the experience of Poirot solving a case in 24 hours based simply on interviews and psychology, and it was a unique Agatha Christie experience.

Plus, THAT WRAP UP. Once more, I had no idea who the culprit was until it was told to me, and up to the reveal, as Poirot hinted at all the possibilities, I was literally Donna Noble experiencing the mystery:

It was an enjoyable quick read and the whole ending was very surprising.
