I love his style of writing. He describes and gives metaphors.
But the girl is 7, almost 8? There were times where I wish that she could be just a child sometimes. She is very insightful, maybe to much?
The other world was sometimes unneseceary to the story. You dis not always had to read it.

Did I enjoy this book? Sort of. Fredrick Backman is a incredible author, how could I possibly write a bad review?

Backman is incredible. I came to love the community of individuals in this building. I love how he used fairytales so Elsa, and the reader, could understand the world. It was a little slower than I usually like, but I've read enough Backman to know that it will be worth it in the end, and boy, was it. This is a story about death, grief, friendship, community, the whole world, really. This would have been the perfect book to read around Christmas, and ideally, I should have read it before I read Britt Marie, but I still enjoyed it.

the story was wholesome but sad at the time time given the topic at hand. I’ve seen that many people said how a big portion on the book is explaining the imaginary land and how it drags but it’s not really… for me it felt like a puzzle because the stories were not really imaginary were they?
On the otherside Elsa did feel unrealistically precocius, maybe at 10-11 it would’ve been believable but 7 …
Spoiler
It annoyed me beyond no end that they kept giving chocolate and cookies and cake and wine and coffee and so on to the dog and it wasn’t addressed not even once? and then he died??? U put the dog on the cover of the book and then u kill the dog? I felt so betrayed I was not ready to cry that much

Week 35 Book 68

My grandmother sends her regards and apologises, by Frederick Bachman.

Just finished this book. Interesting premise and plotline, characters too. But the storytelling was not very engaging. It was too long and cumbersome, especially the parts about Miamas. I skipped and skimmed a lot. Had it been written differently, I'd have enjoyed it more.
