At first I felt the pace was slower than I prefer but it picked up after Sam and Josh are introduced. Information overload that evened out fairly quickly. A great read and definitely action packed!! I didn't like Rue being with Johnathan because I was partial to Josh. He seemed like the better option. Though I only recall the word vampire being used a few short times the spin the author took was interesting. I really enjoyed the book and will add the next to tbr list.

The world of the protectors was very detailed and interesting, however, there were quite a few parts of the book that were "filler", making the book longer than it needed to be. In the end, I cared about the characters and wanted to see what happened next.
