**4.5 stars!**

After reading through the main 5 books in the Spindle Cove series, I found that there were three novellas in the series and as you know, I am a completionist, so of course they were next on the list! The events in this book had been referred to in the third book and the couple were very briefly mentioned in the fifth book, so I was intrigued to know Violet and Christian's story. For a novella, there's a lot of intrigue, history, and tropes in it and I thought that this might have been better served as a slightly longer story - but that could just be me. A strange man turns up in Spindle Cove, not speaking a word of English, and no one quite knows what to make of him. Is he a French spy? Violet, however, thinks she might know who he is... and if he's who she thinks he is, he has some explaining to do. Christian had to leave Violet without a word in service to the Crown, but he can't quite show up as himself. Hopefully, she'll know him and understand that he's back for her. Maybe? We've got a second chance, spies and intrigue, a little more with Bram and Susanna (since this is book 1.5 in the series)... Completely delightful!

A quick, fun novella in Dare's Spindle Cove series.

Christmas, spies, ballroom dances, and bookish women? This was full of adventure and chemistry, and I adored every second of this audiobook!

Violet and the mysterious stranger had *so*much chemistry, and I really bought into their backstory and longing.

Loving the idea of Spindle Cove being full of “spinsters” and “ruined” women who find themselves, so I can’t wait to pick up more in this series.

I enjoyed reading a story with a smart, resourceful, and brave female main character who didn't turn into a simpering idiot for love.
