This is the first volume of what Stan Lee had hoped would be a series. It looks at our connections, and the lack of them, in the digital civilization we belong to. It plays with our desires to root out the injustices and hate that fill the internet. I would consider this a YA novel with teenage romance and the struggle to fit in. We have AI. a teenage hero, aliens, evil corporate, an old man who is more than he seems, and the trademark Stan Lee hero rising to the occasion when all seems lost. I felt like the book really picked up speed and intensity as it went on. By the end, I was hooked and didn't want to stop reading. I also enjoyed the interview with Stan Lee at the end of the book

A fun, entertaining techno-thriller, with some sci-fi and Stan Lee storytelling thrown into the mix.

Honestly, I was really underwhelmed by this. The story just fell flat and I had a hard time caring about the characters. I also was not a fan of the audiobook narrator, which definitely added to my disinterest in the story in general.

3.5 stars. I loved the idea of the book; the execution, though, not so much. I’m not a typical Stan Lee-reader, but the topic — righting wrongs and connecting the unconnected — really interested me. I wouldn’t say the book was a slog, but it wasn’t the experience I’d hoped for, either.

If you like science fiction or whatever Stan Lee has written, I guess the book will scratch an itch.
