This was an interesting book. I can honestly say I never knew where it was going and I enjoyed that. A unique queer read.

Sammy, Monica, and Sampson are deeply unlikable and not in a good way. I often enjoy stories with unlikable characters, but this group was almost unbearable. The story was very interesting, which redeems how unlikable the mains are. I wonder if Sampson was reallly that weird, or if Sammy was just that off kilter.

I really enjoyed the vignettes from side characters that interacted with the mains.  It really gave an umph to the story and solidified how weird interactions with the main characters.

Just the chance that my child would turn out like Samson is reason enough to not have children. But yeah this book was so interesting and I don’t really think Sammie was in the right either. It was also interesting seeing the dysfunctional family dynamic but in the context of a queer relationship.
Read from the Provo library.

Arnett’s writing grabbed me and pulled me in. I was absolutely intrigued by the style of the writing and it was genuinely hard to put this book down. It flew by fast and caught my attention throughout the whole piece. I am a sucker for the untrustworthy/unlikeable protagonist trope and felt that Sammie’s character fit that persona well. Great read.
