This one was a miss for me, unfortunately. It just felt a little stilted and I expected from the blurb that it was going to be way more steamy!

I was given an ARC of this novel, but all opinions are my own.

I requested this book because I thought the title was fun and promising. I really did enjoy how the author tackled healing from emotional abuse. I loved the theme of her finding herself again and realizing her dreams of opening a bookstore.

However, this book sorely needed an editor. The word choices were bizarre and inconsistent. It seemed like the author wasn't sure what she wanted her character to sound like and flip-flopped between styles. I also felt that the plot was quite unrealistic at times.

The romantic male lead for me was a major miss. I did not enjoy being told he was charming rather than being shown by his actions. He would tell her he respected her choices but seemed to bulldoze her into doing what he wanted especially when it came to intimacy.

The sex scenes were filthy but not in a fun way. I felt like I was hearing too much detail in ways that were uncomfortable. For example, I heard about their "liquids' more times than I care to count. It was off-putting and strange. I did however enjoy the phone scene, that was well-written.

In conclusion, I thought the novel had a lot of potential and if it had been revised a bit and edited better could have been a win for me.

This was a brilliant, fast read, and I really enjoyed it. I saw the blurb and liked that it was very real, with people who weren’t perfect and were just looking for what was right for them. Overall, a great and fun read. Definitely lovely for a winter read, to keep you warm and having fun.

1.5 generous stars (yet rounded down)...this was a fail for me. The dialogue, especially in the beginning, felt very unrealistic (as did, let’s be frank, the entire premise of this book). Unfortunately, this also had some of the most unsexy descriptions I’ve ever read in a romance novel. I found myself skimming over most of them because I felt grossed out, not hot.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A steamy romance set in New Haven, CT featuring Madelyn, a recent divocee, who relocated from the Midwest and Bremwood Lockwood, an actor from England, who has a house there for use during downtime, and we can’t forget Easton216, the online chat partner of Madelyn.

I enjoyed reading about Madelyn setting up her new bookstore, one of my favorite places to visit, and how she was rebuilding her life and gaining back her confidence after a soul crushing marriage and divorce. The romances were definitely descriptive and eye popping. While the premise of the book was easy to guess, it was still fun to read. I was surprised by something that happened near the end.

My only gripe with the book is the author not doing her research about New Haven. It’s my hometown and the inaccurate descriptions about it being a quiet place, a village, small sleepy town took away from my enjoying anything written about the area. Anyone in CT knows New Haven is a city and it’s certainly not quiet or sleepy.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!

It was very predictable, i knew from a few pages in what was happening and i found myself pretty bored the whole time. ALSO.. the steamy moments weren't steamy enough for me

I loved the plot of this story A LOT!!!

I felt so bad for Madelyn and wanted everything for her! I was totally invested!

Easton 216 and Bremond both gave her different things. Can she have both? Does she want both?

I enjoyed this book so much, I didn't want it to end!

I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
