This book has one of the most gorgeous art styles I have ever seen. The colour palette is so warm and mellow, and it compliments the vibe of this book incredibly well.
I loved the characters in this book. They were all charming and interesting in their own ways. I saw myself a lot in Bea, watching her overthink and freeze up when things got too overwhelming. Those little snapshots of her anxiety (quite literally) surrounding her really added to her character and made her all that much more relatable. I genuinely wanted to give her a hug during those scenes :')
The simple plot made it really easy to follow. The world of Irpa is such a fascinating place and was really cleverly set out. I really enjoyed following the growth of Bea and Cad's friendship, and their interactions with others and the outside world. It was interesting to see how their opposite personalities complimented each other.
And overall, this book was amazing! It's so underrated that it physically hurts me. Would definitely recommend.

All i am saying it's hard to live in the world if you are afraid of it.
Wow, I loved this book. It was incredible starting the year with such a cozy and comforting read. This graphic novel is beautifully illustrated and instantly immerses you in the world of Lightfall. The storyline is focused on Bea, a young girl with anxiety issues that goes on an adventure with Cad, a giant frog-like being. Both are looking for members of their families. Cad is the opposite of Bea: he is cheerful, full of hope, and spontaneous. At his side, she is learning to be more confident, manage her anxiety better and trust herself. As a person with anxiety issues, I significantly related to her character. I loved how Probert illustrated her mental breakdowns, making them understandable even to younger readers. I love the worldbuilding in this book, and the fantasy story definitely has a plot and adventure to it, but it still feels like a "cozy" read.
A beautiful book that I want to gift to everyone!

The world was beautiful! Love how the artist used lighting in the illustrations. There just something about the scenes with the real warm glow that feels magical.
One of my favorite quotes was: “If I let the specter of certain doom stop me, I’d never get anywhere!”
