This was great. Picked this up to put in my LFL and it was super charming. Bea is a relatable protagonist who struggles with anxiety. Cad is a lovable oaf who will go out of his way to help anyone. Together, the two of them go on an epic journey to find Bea's grandfather, who vanished after leaving a mysterious note that he's going to check on "The Seal."

Gorgeous artwork and a fun story that grips you from the first page. Absolutely loved it.

Bea is an adolescent girl who was found and raised by Alfirid, the Pig Wizard. This tale begins as she goes out foraging for potions ingredients and meets Cad, a friendly being who she learns is a Galdurian, thought to be an extinct people. Cad was in search of help from her gramps Alfirid, but when they return home, the pig wizard has left on his own adventure. Bea and Cad band together to try to find him, encountering a cast of unique characters along the way.

The artwork and character creation were absolutely gorgeous and so creative. The illustrations were emotive and atmospheric. Bea learns how to begin controlling her anxiety and fear over any negative possiblity in the future, which was really well explored. As someone frequently frozen by the what ifs of life, it was relatable and beautiful to see her struggle and learn coping skills. I look forward to continuing this series and watching her grow even more.

A land where the sun disappeared over a hundred years ago and people created large floating lights as replacements. A girl unknowingly goes on an adventure to find her missing grandfather with a stranger, who was looking for help reading a manuscript written in an old language. I love the concept of the story and the variety of characters that have been introduced so far.

Gorgeous artwork, an interesting world and a heroine with anxiety and a cute cat. A little light on plot, but I’ll definitely read the next one.
