Reread an old title by a favorite author. It didn't stand up, sadly - but it was her first book. There were glimmers of the writer she would become. Was disappointed with all of the editing errors in the digital book.

Summary: Preacher's daughter accidentally ruins herself with the wrong man - a local moonshiner

Stats: HR-Western, M/F, open door, stand alone

Notes: The plot wanders and drags a bit and leans just on the line of too preachy for me, but I still enjoyed it. The characters are interesting, though the both MCs were frustrating at times. The "world building" was very good.

This just wasn't for me. I was bored with the heavy plot. He also called her lady bits a pelt which I found really gross.

Read this over 20 years ago and remember thoroughly enjoying it then. I never read a book twice unless it is for a class or a book club, however, I just read a book that so completely unsettled me, I needed something to take away that feeling. I haven't been into the romance genre for a many years now, but I was heavily at one time. Most historical romances are easy reads, fun, and the take me away kind of books that I needed at that time of my life. I will leave this with the original five stars I gave it when joining Goodreads, because it served me well then and now.
