Romanticized war novel. Features Claude: "an idealist without an ideal."

This is really two almost distinct stories about one young man: his life on the plains growing up, and then his life in the fields of France in World War I. While the overall tale is reasonably well written, I didn't think it carried the weight of other Cather works I have enjoyed.
