i think this was a very strong zombie novel—i enjoy that it was more about the journey & the fact you have as much knowledge as the protagonist. it makes it a little more high stakes because you have no idea what exactly is at stake.
i have a qualm with the ending, i don’t know that i believe orpen would go with the banshees knowing what happened to her family as well as like the people she’d just been traveling with?? idk. it was a good time overall.

A well written book, although the time jumps confused me at first. Somehow both reflective and intensely paced. The ending caught me off guard, it felt like there should be more to the story. Ultimately I can see why the author wrote it as is, but it feels... anticlimactic, unsatisfying.

This is the second Apocalypse book that I've read. And man is this one better. Sarah does a great job of showing you the nitty gritty of what it would be like to to survive against the Skrake.
Graphic: Gore and Death of parent
Minor: Vomit and Pregnancy
