An interesting addition to season 2 of Mr. Robot, but not really necessary. It doesn't add much to the story of Elliot's time in prison. That said, it is a really impressive artifact of a book-- the burn marks and scratches, the doodles, scraps tucked in, and the handwriting are all really fantastic. They definitely put a lot into the book's production, which is refreshing.

An incredibly interesting book! I have not solved all the puzzles but they add a very cool touch to the story, which digs deeper into what was going on in Elliot's mind while he was in prison. I really want to rewatch season two while rereading this, that must be even better! Every single one of my friends I've shown this book to has been amazed at how cool looking it is because it does look pretty real (some thought I'd written it myself). Amazing book to have if you like the show, it is not disappointing!

I got an advanced copy of this after a panel from BookCon @ NY Comic Con 2016. It was great! I could actually hear Rami Malek and Christian Slater's voices in my head as I read the book, and Sam Esmail revealed at the panel that the typeface is modeled after Rami and Christian's handwriting. There are also a couple of pull out items stuck in between certain pages that make it even more authentic. The end of the journal picks up at the start of Season 2 and fills in some gaps about what Elliott was thinking. This is a must-have for true Mr. Robot fans!

Everything about this is awesome: the connection to the TV show, the composition notebook bridging the gap of time we missed while he was in prison, the musings of Eliot, his papa, and his sister, the way in which the notebook was done..it felt so real down to the burnt edges, drawings, and handwriting. I listened to it on audio but also looked through the journal at different times and the combination of both is the way to do it! I loved the little surprises shoved between the pages for that extra interactive oomph. The narrator did a great job changing voices and attitude for Eliot, Darlene and his dad. Very effective, thoroughly depressing as only Eliot can be, and at the same time just alot of fun!

It was nice to see what was happening to Elliot before the start of season 2. It also helps puts things together that happen during season 2. I feel like I have to rewatch season 1 and 2 to pick up on everything I may have missed the first time

I can’t read handwriting. I need to stop buying books that have the handwriting thing.

Amazing book. Kudos to Abrams and the production team for putting so much thought and care into the design of the book. The production quality for Red Wheelbarrow is very, very high. The die cuts and embossing for the cover are gorgeous; the fact the entire book is handwritten in three sets of handwriting is phenomenal; the inserts are fun, lend authenticity, and make the read less like a narrative and more like a journey—and then the content, Elliot's story during Season 2 and Carla's responses—everything is packaged together seamlessly. (Seriously, if someone at Abrams can reach out to me, I'd sincerely appreciate it because I have SO MANY QUESTIONS about how this book was produced.)

I love how this book filled in some gaps I had about the show. When I discovered the inserts were puzzles, I flipped out. This is a fantastic book for fans of Mr. Robot and a must-have for die-hards like myself. Please pick it up if you watch the show! I plan to revisit this book for more clues and possibly use it for cosplay in the future.

Everyone who loved Mr. Robot NEEDS TO READ THIS! It’s literally like a bonus episode where we even get more into Elliot’s head. I loved the realness of this book: The little extras, the way it was handwritten and the way it felt. Sooo detailed and fun. Just incredible!
